The Clean Up on the new preserve was an incredible success. Years of trash is now GONE! Check out the before and after pictures to get an idea of how much was removed from Willow Creek and the river. This area has never looked better and we are so grateful to the 250+ volunteers who made short work of it.
A big thanks to Keep San Marcos Beautiful, Amy Kirwin and Melani Howard and all their wonderful staffers and interns, Texas State University (especially their MS4 program), the City of Kyle, city of San Marcos MS4 program, and GBRA for organizing such a great cleanup on ALL the tributaries, plus along the riverbanks and in the river in town. So many sponsors helped pay for breakfast tacos, and pizza for lunch, t-shirts and all the signs and gloves and bags for the 1000 who signed up in advance online, plus those who just showed up. 31,000 pounds of trash was picked up and 10,000 pounds of recyclables. Stay tuned for guided walks at set times and dates in the Eastside Preserve, to be announced soon for walkers.
