Nancy and Michael Ohlendorf have been incredible supporters of the San Marcos River Foundation for years, and most recently assisted SMRF in the case against the Cherryville wastewater treatment permit request. The Ohlendorfs were considered affected landowners, and as SMRF members allowed us to have standing in the contested case against the package plant. The result of this years-long process was a settlement with Cherryville that included improved standards that will benefit our river for years to come. The Ohlendorfs never wavered in their support, knowing how important the outcome would be.
In addition to fighting poor wastewater quality along the river, the Ohlendorfs have assisted SMRF by allowing us to test water quality on a tributary of the river, they have hosted family river cleanups, introduced us to other landowners in the area, and Michael has been on the Upper San Marcos Watershed group for years.
For these reasons and more, we congratulate Nancy and Michael for being such steadfast friends of the San Marcos River. We are forever grateful to them and can’t thank them enough!
