Scholarship given to a deserving student for river protection. This scholarship is in honor of Don Blashke who spoke out about Dow Chemical dumping raw benzene into the Brazos River in an auditorium of hundreds of people in the 1960s. He was able to persuade a TAMU professor to admit that Dow had paid him to testify which led to an EPA investigation. Dow was fined and forced to clean up the river.
The ceremony will be at the Meadows Center on August 12 at 11 am
