Russel Bond

Russel moved to the San Marcos area in 2011 and quickly developed a deep appreciation for the city's natural beauty and commitment to sustainability. With a background in environmental studies, regulatory coordination, and project management, he has worked on various programs focused on water quality, land preservation, and community engagement.

Russ is passionate about the outdoors and enjoys activities such as canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, and exploring nature with his dog Bear. He has extensive experience guiding, coordinating volunteer efforts, and working with environmental organizations. He also has an entrepreneurial spirit, having owned and operated a lawn service and worked in multiple roles related to construction, environmental management, and customer service.

Currently, Russ works as a Business Process Specialist for the City of Austin’s Transportation & Public Works department, where he focuses on regulatory compliance, traffic control, permit coordination, and vision zero initiatives. He also guides for Texas Canoes and Kayaks, enjoys sharing his love for the river, and contributes to various environmental initiatives.

Russ is committed to preserving San Marcos’s natural resources, particularly its waterways, and looks forward to continuing his work in conservation and community engagement.
