Jay Daniel
Jay was born and raised in San Antonio and holds Both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University. He is a passionate outdoorsman with a background that exceeds well beyond the traditional boundaries of parks and recreation and has finished the Texas Water Safari 18 times. “I started racing the Safari to see if I could. I continued to race because of the people. I see the San Marcos River as Central Texas’ Jewel, not to mention my playground.“
Jay worked as a parks operations leader in the Houston area for 13 years. As Park Director for Memorial Park Conservancy, he began the implementation of the ecological restoration plan. This long-range plan is intended to restore the park to the area’s historic mix of Gulf Coast Prairie, Piney Woods, and Post Oak Savannah.
Jay has sat on the Texas Water Safari Board for 15 years, the TCKRA board for 25 years, and the BR3T board for the past 2 years.
