Melanie Caldwell
Melanie’s earliest memory of the San Marcos River is from childhood. Her parents would visit family friends, and she would splash in the clear, cool waters under the huge Bald Cypress Trees while her father fished. Melanie took a job at Texas State University, where her office opened up to the river. Fast forward a few more years, and she got the opportunity to live on the San Marcos River! The river has long been near and dear to her heart. The peace, tranquility, and healing the river brings to those who visit it and the wildlife that depend on it are essential to our well-being.
Melanie has participated in the Texas Stream Team and the Lost Pines Master Naturalist Chapter through Citizen Scientist programs of water testing and riparian projects.
She wants to ensure the river continues flowing, providing life to the animals and birds, flora and fauna, and the people who appreciate her.
